Happy New Year everyone! One of my New Year’s resolutions has been to kick the blog off again, as I know my posts have been sporadic at best ^^; I’m aiming for two updates a week during 2024 so fingers crossed I keep this goal and get to introduce you all to some delicious and exciting new places to try in Daegu! So to kick off the new year I have a really tasty spot, perfect for some home comfort food during these cold winter months. Read on for more!

Honestly, at this point the Facebook and Insta algorithms know what’s up with me and so most of the advert posts are food related haha. That’s how I found today’s restaurant, Cheat Deli, located in Beomeo in Suseong-gu. They advertised American home comfort food with homemade bread and deli meats, and the pics looked mouth wateringly good. I may be British, but I’m not going to turn down mac and cheese and a decent sandwich any time soon! So on a cold Sunday in January, we headed over to get our fill!

It was pretty easy to find the restuarant as it is located just a short walk from Suseonggu Office Station, west side of line 2 (수성구청역). Take exit 2 and the next available left, and the reataurant is just a short walk (5 mins) down the street on the left hand side. A friend who frequents this restaurant told me parking is difficult in the area, so be aware if you do decide to drive there!

The restaurant is decorated as an American diner style, with wooden chairs and panelling, baby seats are available for younger kids. The walls are plastered with cute posters showing all the food on offer and various bits of Americana. As we went in December they had decorated for Christmas too. Overall the vibe is very clean and cosy!

The menu has a good selection of food on offer, including sandwiches, pasta, pork ribs, lasagna, and sides such as mac and cheese and seasonal soups. We were pretty hungry so decided to get three things to share. The Italian sandwich, chilli con carne, and the mac and cheese. The reastaurant had several other customers in but fortunately we didn’t have to wait too long for the food to come out.

The food was absolutely delicious, and they get 5 stars for presentation too. I thought the little flags were a cute touch. The sandwich bread was crisp and the deli meats were all declious. Plus the pickle was huge if you’re into pickles (I hate them haha). The chilli con carne was served on potatoes and was suuuuper yummy, it came with huge dollops of sour cream too which I very much appreciated. The mac and cheese was the main dish I had wanted to try, after seeing the pics online. It was served in a mug (A+ for aesthetic) and was incredibly rich and cheesy.

The taste was excellent, however I was disappointed that the cheese to mac ratio was very off. It could have done with a lot more pasta. However, it was great to dip the other things we ordered in it! BF recommends getting a sandwich and the mac and cheese and dipping it in as you go. Overall excellent food, great aesthetics, clean and comfy restaurant. I will def be going back to try their other menu items, and I know it is a hit with some of my American friends. So if you’re after a taste of home or just some filling and tasty food go check it out!
