I absolutely love Japanese food and while you can get basics like omurice and hamburg steaks at any decent kimbap store sometimes your in the mood for something a bit higher quality and more elevated. Omuhamu by Apsan offers all your favourites but ~fancier~ and as a bonus the restaurant itself is very cute and cosy, making it the perfect date spot to eat Japanese food in Daegu this weekend! Keep reading to find out more ^^

Apsan is very hilly and not the nicest area to get around if you aren’t in the mood for a hike just to get to your fave cafe or eating spot. Luckily Omuhamu is located not too far from several bus stops so you shouldn’t have to walk too far to get there. It’s easy to spot from the outside too from its unique decoration. Gravel paths and bamboo lined walls lead up to the entrance of the restaurant and make for a perfect spot for some cute pics as well. The entrance is located on the first floor up a couple of stairs. It can be very busy so you may have to wait for a table, but if the weather is nice they have some lovely outdoor seating.

Inside the restuarant it has a super cosy interior, furnished almost like someones home living room. The tables and chairs are wooden, with cabinets decorated with vinyls, plants, and even sewing machines! They have a long mirror too, perfect chance for more cute photos oh noooooo.

Now, onto the food! The menu isn’t huge as they seem to specialise in just a few dishes (which usually means the ones they do offer are yummy hehe). The two main dishes are the handmade hamburg steak and the omurice (which is exactly what we ordered). But they also offer basil shrimp pasta, intestines cream pasta, and a few sides like karaage chicken salad, fried shrimp, bread, and drinks.

It didn’t take long for the food to come out, which was lucky as we were starving. I got the hamburg steak and my boyfriend got the omurice. He said that it was one of the best omurices he had ever eaten, I tried a bite and had to agree. The hamburg steak was melt in your mouth and beautifully seasoned. It came with rice and a couple of veggies. I would also say the best hamburg steak I’ve ever had.

On the downside the price was very high compared to the portion amount (the omurice was 12,900 and the steak was 16,900). While the taste was amazing, we were hungry again soon after. It’s hard to justify spending that much knowing my local kimbap heaven offers both dishes for under 10k each haha. However, as a special treat or date day it’s the perfect spot and worth that extra money!
