Let it go, let it gooooo~ Ever wanted to feel like Elsa in your own Frozen ice kingdom? Yeaaaaaaaah, tbh me neither haha… Can’t say it’s my favourite movie, howeveeeeer, the Biseulsan ice wall is not one to miss if you’re looking for some cute wintery Insta shots! Today’s blog post will show you how to reach this spot up in the mountains with relative ease so you too can get your perfect ice background shot. Let it go? More like let’s go! (I’m funny irl trust me).

Soooo, I’ll be honest, it is a little out of the way to get to but with a little time and a lot of transfers it is doable if you put some time aside and set off early. We started by taking the subway on the red line (line 1) to Jincheon Station. From here, come out of exit 1 and walk 1 minute down the street to the first bus stop. From there take the red bus 급행 8 or 8-1. Ride the bus for about 20 mins or so and get off at Hararium Ap. Now, welcome to Technopolis! This little mini town of Daegu has cafes and food stops if you want to grab anything before you start the next leg of your journey.

From Technopolis you have two options, either walk or take a taxi. It was verrrry cold when we went so we opted for the taxi. I think walking would take just over an hour each way, but be aware there is construction on the road on the way up so some pathways may be closed. Either way, your destination is the Hotel Azalea (호텔아젤리아) so you can either enter that in Kakao Taxis or put it in Kakao or Naver Maps for walking directions. In the taxi it took around 12 mins and cost 7k each way.

Once you reach Hotel Azalea you want to continue walking up the road and higher up the mountain. You’ll notice a toll booth on the way, and this is why getting off at the Hotel works out cheaper. Don’t need to pay the toll! After the toll booth you will start to see signs for the ice wall that look like the one pictured below. It was a pretty easy walk and not hard to find, just stay on the main path. Eventually you will reach the tall statues and a bridge. If you look to the right you can see the ice wall and the path to walk up to it. From the Hotel it took around 10 mins to reach the wall.

The wall itself is pretty big and impressive! Sadly it is manmade, look closely to see the sprays installed at the top. But it’s still pretty and when we went the stream was frozen too making for nice views on the walk up. The whole area has been taped off, but after watching for a few minutes we saw mannnnyyyyy Korean hikers duck under the tape for pics so we decided to do the same haha. WARNING: it was pretty slippery so wear sensible shoes and enter at your own risk. The tape is there for a reason!

We got some nice pics together at various spots by the wall. I think they came out pretty cute! Again, it was very cold when we went so we spent maybe 15 minutes tops snapping pics. We walked further up the mountain, but as it had snowed the day before the steps further up looked frozen over and dangerous, so we decided to head back. All in all we actually spent barely any time up the mountain, but imo the pics were worth it. We walked back to the hotel and booked a Kakao taxi down, luckily one picked up immediately so we only had to wait for them to drive up.

Overall it’s a great spot for cute photos, but like I said a bit of a mission to get there. But I dunno…. do it for the gram!?!? Please let me know if you’ve been and any recs for restaurants in Technopolis! In the future I really want to explore the area more so looking for places to try. Otherwise I’ll be back soon with more food, cafes, and things to do!
