Last week I had evening plans with friends to have a little pre-Christmas get together for coffee and dinner. Someone suggested donkas and it’s been a while since I’ve had it so I was down. However, I was in the mood for something a little fancier than your usual kimbap store fare so I got on Naver to try and find something more suitable for a Christmas party. After a little searching I came across Digeut in downtown. The Naver review was high and the pics looked yummy so decided to give it a go. And honestly, it was DELICIOUS! So of course I wanted to recommend it here 🙂

The restaurant is located just a short walk from Banwoldang Station, exit 10. Word of warning, we went on a Tuesday night and it was packed out. We were a group of 6 and hadn’t made a reservation. (I’m not even sure if they take reservations). Luckily a table of two had just left, and they asked another party of two to move to a smaller table. So we didn’t wait long but as the store is very small we had to sit seperately. No one minded though as we were all just hungry after work haha!

The decor is very cute inside, and has a modern but rural cottage kind of feel. There were a couple of plants scattered about and some nice art work on the walls. Of course we came for the food but always nice to eat somewhere with good vibes. We arrived around 7pm and slowly people started to leave although last orders aren’t until 8.30 (they also open for lunch but take a break 3pm to 4pm).

We knew it must have been busy that day as when we came to order they told us they only had one menu item left avaiable. Normally they offer three different types of donkas, but on this occassion they only had the 안심 (tenderloin) left. The price is 12,000 for one. This was fine by me as that was what I wanted anyway. They also have a couple of sides, you can order an extra side of tenderloin donkas (3,500) or a donkas sandwich (8,000). The menu is very limited but if all you’re after is donkas then it has you covered haha!

The food didn’t take too long to come out, and was beautifully presented on a tray with a side of rice, soup, cabbage, kimchi, sauce, and even a free dessert! It was soooo yummy too. The meat was very tender and melt in your mouth. I wish they gave a little more sauce but you can ask for a refill for free. The little dessert cup was also a nice bonus! It was a kind of berry and sweet yoghurt maybe? I’m honestly not sure haha. All over, while a lot more expensive than a corner store donkas, if you’re fancying something a bit more upmarket I would highly recommend dropping by Digeut!
