17 Gil (17길) – Suseong Lake/Suseong-gu

Daegu has soooo much yummy food to offer it’s easy to get caught up in finding the latest hot brunch place or perfect spot for some tasty Thai. I often find that friends rarely go out to enjoy good Korean food, and mostly save it for Kimbab Heaven stores or school lunches. Which is a shame, because Daegu has a plethora of tasty restaurants offering a huge range of local foods. That’s why I’ve decided to spend the next few days updating the site with some of my fave yummy Korean spots, from cheap treats to chic eats!

First up is this lovely little spot a short walk from Suseong Lake. This area has loads to offer in terms of food, cafes, and views, and I think this restaurant is definitely worth the visit if you’re in the neighbourhood. Located on a little backstreet, 17 Gil is unassuming from the front, but walk inside for cute, cat themed decor and delicious eats.

Inside the restaurant has a interesting warehouse look, with cinderblock walls decorated in cute paintings and statues. The bar is inviting, brightly lit and covered in cute little nik-naks for your viewing pleasure! When I went last winter, seats quickly filled and we were told there might be a short wait for food. It wasn’t too bad, but get there early to avoid disappointment!

As for the menu, the prices are decent costing around 10-12k for a main course and selection of banchan (Korean sides). I ordered the 우삼겹 숙주볶음 한상차림 (stir fried bean sprouts and pork belly, 11,000) and my friend had the 우삼겹 된장찌개 한상차림 (pork soy bean paste soup, 10,000). We were both impressed with the quantity of food given the price! The side dishes were all super tasty too, and it was perfect filling food for winter weather. I also liked how they gave us a little tangerine hehe ❤

Although not a major issue, my friend couldn’t finish her meal and asked for take out, however the restaurant said they don’t offer this service. Just a heads up because they also offer a selection of smaller dishes you can order too, just don’t go OTT unless you can finish it all in one sitting!

I think that is all I have to say about 17 Gil! Overall it was yummy, reasonable priced, and a cute little spot for a girls’ night catch up. Check it out next time you’re by Suseong, you won’t be diappointed~
