So… long time no post! I’ve had a hectic couple of months that have stopped me from updating this blog regularly, however I have now sorted through a million pictures and have a load of great restaurants and cafes to share once again! So let’s kick start the latest incoming of posts with this fantastic little brunch spot located in Bon-dong, Dalseo-gu. Unfortunately it isn’t near a subway station, but you can take the 급행6 from outside the Samsung Store opposite Seobu Bus Station subway stop and arrive at the cafe within 6 minutes! It is definitely worth the visit, read on to see why~

Eastenders had actually been recommended to me a while back by some Korean friends, and so it had been on my watch list for a while now. With the Seollal holidays having just passed I had lots of time to discover new spots in Daegu, so it was a great chance to to finally check out Eastenders.

They are open daily 10-6 (Sunday 10-5) with a 40 minute break 2.50-3.30 and last orders are an hour before closing. We went around lunch time and should have called in advance because it was PACKED. We were told that there were already three parties ahead of us but the staff spoke excellent English and took down my phone number and said they would call when a table would be free but the wait might be 30 mins plus. You can see from the pictures seating is very cosy but a little limited.

We went to nearby Haksan Park for a little walk, then returned to the store 30 minutes later. They were still full so we sat outside and the staff kindly brought us some lemon tea to keep us warm while we waited. After another 15 minutes a table became available and by this point I was starving and ready for some tasty food, luckily I was not disappointed! I do think they take reservations so you could call in advance and check. The staff spoke English well so there shouldn’t be any issues with language barriers, plus their service was excellent and they were very kind and welcoming.

The menu offers a selection of breakfast toasts and sandwiches, pastas, salads, yoghurt, and pancakes. Sadly I forgot to get a picture of the menu (I always do, gah!) but they also offered the menu in English so no worries if you can’t read Korean. We ordered the smoked salmon toast (12,500) with an extra poached egg (2,000) as well as the blueberry pancakes (9,000) and a Freddo Espresso (4,000). I was warned this was very strong and boy they did not lie! It was very strong but delicious, perfect for coffee lovers like myself.

The salmon toast came first and was absolutely delicious. The egg was a nice topping too and complemented the rest of the ingredients. My only complaint is that it was a rather small portioin, we easily could have eaten one each! But that is a testament to how good it was.

The pancakes took 15 minutes so we ate it as a dessert. Again they were very delicious, light and fluffy and not too sweet. The blueberries were a little cold but still good and we polished off the whole plate in minutes. Again I could have easily eaten a double portion!

Overall Eastenders is a great little brunch spot and I think perfect for a fancy date or nice lunch out with friends. While the portions were a little small the taste was incredible and I would definitely eat there again. Have you visited? Please let me know in the comments on Facebook or Instagram, I love to hear from you!
