So, I am definitely not what you would call a Starbucks person. I generally prefer independent coffee shops, or if I go to a chain Korea has an abundance of cheap stores where I can get a litre of coffee for 2,000 won haha. So Starbucks isn’t usually at the top of my list for go to places. However, I do love a good trend, and the internet has been WILD lately with the news that PSL (pumpkin spiced lattes for the uniformed) have come to Korea. I say PSL with some ease, but I didn;t know the acronym until last week because… I have never had a PSL. Oop. So a bunch of friends decided to meet up and try the Korean version, and I tagged along to have my first ever try of PSL.

There are no shortage of Starbucks in Daegu (or Korea, or the world for that matter) so I’m sure if you want to try the autumn range of offerings you can find one nearby. Just slap it into Naver and one will pop up, I’m sure. The Halloween/autumn ranges includes a few different drinks and snacks, as well as collectible tumblers and other offerings. We tried a few items, but there are more in the range that you can see here (Starbucks is expensive, I’m not gonna buy literally every menu item. I’m a teacher, not a BitCoin trader). So look below to see what we tried! DISCLAIMER: I can’t compare these items to those back home or anything, like I said I’m not big into Starbucks, but I had fun experimenting with the new range of stuff anyway!
Pumpkin Spiced Lattes (hot or iced)
So I got the iced PSL and a friend opted for the hot version. I usually just stick with black coffee like Ameircano so a latte was a rare treat for me. I’ve heard that they aren’t as sweet as when they were released a few years back. Personally I’m not overly fond of very sweet drinks and I thought this was fine. It tasted like a latte with flavouring. Goal achieved. I’m not swayed enough that I went right out to buy Uggs and a Live Laugh Love sign, but it was alright!
Vanilla Mummy Cream Frappucino
Another friend tried the mummy frappucino. She said it tasted like a regular frap, but we all enjoyed the cute little mummy choccy peeking out. I think she was satisfied but it wasn’t anything off the charts new, but again, that mummy is frikking cute so bonus points for that.
Iced Gentle Joker Sweet Sour
So I actually went back on another day to try this because it looked so cool in the adverts. I was quite sad that it was just served in a regular glass with ice, minus points boo!!! This wasn’t my favourite to be honest. It was fine but I think a regular ade would be better. The taste was a little too sweet for me. I think it might be grapefruit and purple…? I didn’t actually check haha. But I would opt to try the other drinks before this one.
Mint Chocolate Cake
Which side are you on in the mint choco debate? I’ve been eating mint choco for years (After Eights are a firm favoruite with my family back in the UK) so I love the current craze in Korea because I get to try so many mint choco inspired treats. This cake was pretty yummy, too! It was quite rich and a pretty big portion. I actually ruined my dinner eating it haha. But I enjoyed it, good mint choco combo. Sad the rest of the witch wasn’t attached to the legs though.
There were some other cakes too but I haven’t tried them. Here’s some sneaky shots though!
Collectible Range
Okay so this Halloween range is pretty cute, and as a mad cat lady I cannot describe how much I want that black cat mug. If they still have them on payday I might be getting one…

Anyway it was fun trying all the new drinks and snacks. And I can now say goodbye to Starbucks until someone sends me a gift coupon for an iced Americano ahahaha. If Starbucks is your thing I’m sure you’ll love this autumn inspired range. If you aren’t into Starbucks then fair enough, I get you don’t worry. Hope everyone has a lovely autumn and Halloween~~~
