So work has been kinda stressing me out lately, piles of lesson planning makes for a stressful day! So I needed a chance to escape the city streets and have a bit of a healing moment. I called a friend and we decided to have a little picnic on the top of Apsan, the main mountain in the South of Daegu.

The hike up Apsan is super nice, and I’ve done it several times, but on a week night after work nobody wants to tire themselves out with that! So we opted to take the cable car up. The cost is 10,500 per person (adults, 7,500 children) return trip. The last cable car down depends on which month it is and whether it is a weekday or weekend. The table is below if you want to check the schedule before going. The ride only takes a few minutes and drops you at the observation tower. There’s a cafe and restaurant at the top too, but we took a picnic 🙂

Time table (left column is month, the next is first cable car departure time, the next is last cable car down on weekdays, the last column is last cable car down on weekends and holidays)

We got there about 20 mins before sunset so got to enjoy some lovely views from the observation platform. It’s really nice just looking over the city and you get a great view from here, even though the actual cable car ride is super short! There is seating on the platform, but no food or alcohol allowed up there. It’s a great spot to hang out and take pictures though. You can normally also walk along the mountain ridge to the other viewing platform, but sadly they were doing construction work so we were limited to a very small area surrounding the cable car zone.

We found a bench to sit and have our picnic while the sun set. There was also a cute little swing bench lit up by fairy lights, perfect for some photos! After the sun had gone down we headed back up to the platform to enjoy the night view. I think this is even more beautiful, and so calming watching the lights twinkle below. Daegu is a beautiful city and this is great way to see it. Sadly we got there quite late and only had a short time to enjoy the view before the last cable car departed.

We rode the cable car back down, enjoying the view through the window. At the bottom we exited and had a walk through the park. There’s several cute installations to enjoy so it’s worth a little walk around. There was also a convenience store with seating if you fancied a rest (or a beer) before heading off. There is also a bus station, super handy for getting home!

Have you been to Apsan at night? What did you think? Let us know in the comments here, on Facebook, or Instagram! I’d love to hear from you ^_________^
