A leaving party is always sad, but it’s best to do a send off with delicious food and beer~ When a friend said they’d be leaving Korea we of course had to go out and eat something they are going to miss, and on this occassion the choice was tangsuyuk! I did a quick search online and found Hoeseonggak, located a short walk from Namsan Station (남산영). The pics looked yummy so off we went!

Hoeseonggak all the favourite offerings of Korea’s favourite Chinese food, and the restaurant is on theme with the Chinese style decor. There is plenty of seating with a front and back area, we went on a Tuesday night and it was a little busy but not crazy. Apparently this place is a hot spot at lunch time, probably because after ordering the food comes out within minutes. Whatever time of day you go I think this is a good spot to hit your Chinese cravings.

We ordered a table full of dishes. Hoeseonggak is known for it’s tangsuyuk, which is why we went, and we ordered the largest portion at 27,000. The portions was BIG and plenty for 4 people. We also got three other main dishes, the bibimbap (중화비빔밥/7,000), seafood jjambong (짬봉/6,000), and jjajangbap (5,000). IT WAS A LOT OF FOOD! The tangsuyuk was crispy with a sauce, which wasn’t too sweet. The jjajangbap was also decent, tasty and not too greasy. The bibimbap was SUPER tasty, my favourite of the night. I didn’t try the jjambong as I was soooo full but had good reviews from my friends!

After we finished up eating we decided next round should be a beery one. Luckily, the floor above us was a pub! So we headed out and up the stairs (left hand side if you’re facing Hoeseonggak) to Seol Mac. They have a speciality beer, which is like a bingsu shaved ice made from beer, served as a topping on beer! Of course we needed a round of those! The beer shaved ice was super tasty but eat it quick before it melts!

It was a weekday night so pretty quiet, but the bar had a cool atmosphere and also a range of tasty looking food. Good place for bar food and drinks if you aren’t full like we were haha. It was a weekday night and we all had work the next day, so we finished off our beers and called it a night. If you visit either of these places let us know what you think on the Facebook page! I’d love to hear from you!
