UPDATE FEB 2022. THIS LOCATION IS NOW CLOSED. However, you can still find Banh Mi Kong locations in Suseong-gu and Dong-gu.
Cafe Bahn Mi Kong is another one of those places that popped up on my feed one day and I knew I had to go. Sadly, this store is a bit of a mission if you don’t have a car, but we had a public holiday so I headed out with some friends to check it out! Luckily they have other locations in Daegu so check if one is close to you! It took us two buses to get here, but we were rewarded with a walk by a beautiful resevoir on the way to the cafe. Just that was worth the trek imo, but also luckily some delicious banh mi was waiting for us at the end of the resevoir.

We walked down the side of the resevoir down to the Southern-most end and over a little bridge to the cafe. There are several other cafes and restaurants we passed in the neighbourhood, definitely worth an explore if you’re in the area. Our aim that day though was banh mi, so we skipped the rest and went straight there. It was a beautiful early autumn day and when we arrived all the windows were open and you could see the bright interior and decorations. It looked so welcoming!

Upon entering you were facing the counter where you could place your order before finding a seat. They offer a range of banh mi with fillings such as beef, pork, ham and egg, ham and cheese, shrimp, or plain bread with dipping sauce. The banh mi with fillings are priced between 6,500 and 6,900, plain bread is 3,500. They also have a variety of speciality condensed milk and coconut coffees as well as your run of the mill cafe offerings. I ordered a beef banh mi and a condensed milk latte.

The sandwich came with a plastic glove for eating (ah I love Korea). It was super yummy and satisfying, I enjoyed the filling and the bread was fresh and a little crispy. Perfect! The coffee was really nice too, and good to try something different that it’s hard to get elsewhere! Everyone overall enjoyed their food and said they’d visit again.

A trip not wasted, yay! Then of course we took a little time taking photos before heading for the walk back. A heads up, as it is a little far out the buses aren’t super regular so we had to wait a bit to get one home. No biggie, but if you’re in a rush just take note! Have you visited Cafe Banh Mi Kong? If so please leave a comment or picture on the Facebook page!
