So one evening during my vacation me and the boyfriend decided to head out to Sangin-dong for dinner one night. This year we’ve had heavy rains all throughout summer, but on this day we got lucky with a break from the downpour. We hopped on the subway and went the few stops to Sangin, exited the subway to pouring rain 😂 Nothing beats a hearty meat soup on a rainy day, so we headed to the nearest Namzatang for some gamjatang as this chain is a safe bet for taste, what you need when you don’t want to stumble about in the rain looking for a restaurant!

While we visited the Sangin branch, Namzatang has locations all over Daegu and Korea! So just pop the name into Naver to find your nearest branch. Having visited several I find them to be pretty consistent with the standard of food, and it’s a decent place to get some gamjatang when you’re craving it. The Sangin branch also has a kids play area, so if you have little ones that need entertaining while you eat this is a great place to have dinner and let them run wild!

We ordered the medium pork bone soup (32,000 – 중 다른뼈전골) with a couple of rices and some ramen noodles. We wanted a big portion as we planned to drink a few bottles of soju (hehe) but if you just want to pop in for a meal they do single servings for 8,000 too!

Each table has a built in electric range so you can heat up the soup as and when needed. It’s really tasty dipping the meat into the sauce! I love me some purple rice too. We planned to order fried rice at the end but with the noodles and a rice each it would have been waaaay too much. In the end we had a good night chatting and drinking too much soju over some delicious soup. Check out your local Namzatang next time you get a craving for pork bone soup!
