If you live in Daegu I would be very very shocked if you haven’t heard of Suseong lake, so this post is more for new comers or visitors to Daegu. First, hi and welcome! Suseong Lake is a big attraction in Daegu as it offers nice walks under shady trees in summer, cherry blossom viewing in spring, and light displays in the winter. Whatever the season it’s a great place to visit! There are also so so many great restaurants and cafes in the vicinity, check out the Suseong tag on the blog to see my top picks! Or read on to see why you need to visit this lovely spot in South East Daegu.
I’ll divide this post into three sections:
- Take a walk
- Duck boats!
- Cafes and restaurants
1. Take a walk!

One of the most obvious things to do at Suseong Lake is take a walk! The lake is surrounded by a pathway with a few decks and walkways built over the lake itself. It takes 30 minutes at a slow pace to do a lap, and you can enjoy the views of the lake and duck boats, as well as some art installations and garden areas set up around the lake. There’s also plenty of seating so you can find a nice spot to sit and chill or take a picnic! You can also hike the hill seen in the background of the above photo if the lake path is too chill for you.

As you come out of the monorail station you’ll also see the stream, with a set of stairs leading down to it. It’s also really nice to take a walk here and see the ducks, herons, and other wildlife in the middle of the city!

2. Duck boats!

For 15,000 for 2 people or 18,000 for 3~4 people you can rent out a duck boat for 30 minutes! It’s pretty fun to do and you can ride around the lake and wave at everyone. There’s also an island in the middle of lake where a load of herons nest. You can ride up close to the island and see them! Perfect for bird watchers, maybe??? Anyway it’s a fun experience to do!

3. Cafes and restaurants
There are literally HUNDREDS of cafes and restaurants by the lake so you’ll be spoiled for choice with places to go! Below are just some of the places I’ve tried! It’s defintely worth a walk around just to see what your options are.

Seoga and Cook (서가앤쿡) is a chain restaurant with locations all over Daegu. This one by the lake has really nice views from their window seats! We got a fajita sharing plate (37,800) including 4 different fillings and a pasta side dish. For two people it was a looooooooot of food but we enjoyed it!

Mies Container (미즈컨테이너) offers a range of western dishes including pasta, pizza, and the BBQ chicken platter. This is one of my favourite spots by Suseong Lake and I’ve been here several times. The food is yummy and I love the chic interior and chill vibe of the restaurant.

Onkijeong (온기정) serves tendong and other Japanese style food bowls. The tendong was alright and I loved the salmon and potato side bowl (I could eat it every day!) The beef wasn’t to my taste though so personally I would skip that one next time.

Dessert 39 (디저트39) has a range of tasty cakes and drinks! We stopped by on a rainy day for a little cake date~

The Pocket (더포켓) has looooads of different types of pastries and croissants. We got one each and it was waaaay too much food haha. Recommend sharing!
What’s your favourite spot in Suseong? Please let me know in the comments so I can check it out next time!
