If you’ve had a heavy day of shopping in Shinsegae Department Store and need a break from the neon lights and recycled air, a 5 minute walk around the corner will bring you to Cafe Baekgeumdang. Sitting on the corner on a little side street, from outside it’s easy to miss this quaint little cafe. But I urge you to pop in for a coffee or a bite to eat! Inside this coffee shop is a wonderland of cute furniture and spots for perfect cafe Insta shots!

When you enter you’ll be at the cash register. The menus are in Korean so you’ll need to know coffee Korean or have a translation app to order. They do a range of coffees and speciality milk teas and flower teas, loads of unique choices! The staff are very sweet and kind so don’t worry about asking them for help. You can also take one of their cute business cards or a little wooden heart for free from the cash register! After we ordered we had time to explore the other rooms before sitting down.

There were two main rooms inside the cafe, much bigger than it looked from the outside! There is an assortment of mismatched wooden furniture and it has a cottagey feel to the cafe. Scattered around the rooms are mirrors where you can stop for some great Insta shots (see mine below!) or you can just admire the decor. There’s also a long mirror in one corner set up with a chair for REAL posey pics. It’s basically an Insta paradise~

I tried the iced Baekgeumdang coffee for 5,500. It was sweet and milky and a nice change from my usual Iced Americanos haha. We also ordered the fruit pancakes (13,000) to share. They told us that we would have to wait 15 minutes for the pancakes, which was fine as we wanted to take pics anyway. They brought out the drinks first, then the pancakes. The pancakes were light and fluffy and freshly made, so still warm! They were covered in a cream that wasn’t too sweet, and seved with a variety of glazed fruit. It was my first time trying Korean style pancakes (I know they’re pretty popular right now!) and I enjoyed them! Definitely a sharing size, especially after all the dim sum we ate haha. If you’re ever in the area I hope you’ll stop by this cute little cafe and enjoy it as much as I did!
