Butterful & Creamorous (버터풀앤크리멀러스) – downtown/Jung-gu

UPDATE FEB 2023: I CAN NO LONGER FIND THIS CAFE’S DETAILS ONLINE SO IT MAY HAVE CLOSED DOWN. If anyone has current info please let me know 🙂

The signage really stands out so this place is easy to spot!

So I’d been seeing Facebook ads for the Butterful & Creamorous cheesecake for a while now, and I had an eye appointment with a doctor downtown today so seemed like the perfect opportunity for a cheeky treat after my eye test. I’d seen the cafe on several occassions while shopping, those signs are hard to miss! Just a short walk from Banwoldang exit 10 this is a perfect stop if you’re craving some high end baked goods after a shopping session.

Fancy!

There’s both indoor and outdoor seating, but what really stands out on entering is this super fancy chandelier. Indicator that you’ve walked into a high end baked goods store 😂 and tbf it definitely isn’t the cheapest bakery I’ve been to. However, everything looked DELICIOUS and I wish I’d gone with friends to try a selection of the baked goods. Always next time, today I was on a cheesecake mission.

Also, I should have taken more photos but I went just as they opened and it was just me and the one member of staff and deathly silent inside, so after a few obnoxious camera clicks I felt awkward and stopped snapping. Sorry, I’m such a chicken and that Korean camera click sound is LOUD. But you can see from these snaps they have a huge range of tasty looking baked goods. Everything looked AMAZING! Drinks were a bit on the pricey side with Americanos starting at 5,000 but seems like you’re playing for the high class experience haha 😂

I found the basque cheesecake in one of the cabinets and was a wee bit shocked at the price, 9,900 for a slice or 26,000 for a whole cake. I’m a bit of a cheapskate so don’t usually splurge on stuff, but the pics online had tempted me and I was already there so… I went for it. He packed it up in a fancy bag and I took it as take out to have in the park (with a cheap coffee from Monster haha). He asked me how many forks I needed. Hahaha. One please. All for me.

Even the bag is fancy!

So, on to the main event! The cheesecake came packed in a little fancy box so I took that and my coffee to Memorial Park for my sweet treat moment. Luckily in this case you get what you pay for. It was HEAVENLY. Really rich and creamy, not too sweet. Just cheesecake perfection. At that price I won’t be going here for my cheesecake fix regularly but as an occasional treat, why not?
