Galbijjim might be one of my all time favourite Korean foods (and yes I know I have a lot of favourite Korean foods but… it’s all so good!), so I was really excited when I found this restaurant tucked into a back street of Seomun Market.

The signs said they’d been going over 36 years so I was prepared for some super delicious food and I was NOT disappointed. Came here with the boyfriend for a date night so we drove over on his bike and parked a little outside the market entrance. It wasn’t too hard to find and easy to spot with the big yellow and red signs.

We went on a weekday night and were the only ones there (perfect in pandemic times!) sadly bf was getting his vaccine the next day so no soju 😦 as I think a little soju would have gone down a treat with this hehe.

Menu prices

They had both beef and pork galbijjim, with beef being 13,000 each with a minimum of 2 orders (so 26,000 for two people) or pork at 7,000 each with a minimum of 2 orders (14,00 for two people). We went with the pork and a portion of cheonggukjang (a kind of fermented soybean soups, it’s a bit stinky but tastes so so good). Rice was 1000 per portion, we went through 3 or 4 in the end.

Dinner is served!

It was so so delicious and so so satisfying. We got mid spicy level but they said they can adjust spice for preference. The portions were a decent size too so we felt it was good value for money, especially for the pork. Wrapping up a little meat with rice and garlic is just perfection! The soup was really tasty but if you aren’t a fan of soybean soups then you might want to skip it. The taste was very strong but we loved it. I would definitely go back again to try the beef one when I’m feeling a little more flush. Hoping next time to wash it down with some soju too 😉
